At Rock Shield Auto Film, we tint windows of all makes and models and are locally owned and operated with over 7 years in automotive glass tint and protection. We specialize in professional auto window tinting and windshield protective film installation.
While we love living in the Arizona sun, we have experienced the damaging effects the sun has on our health (skin and eyes) and our vehicles. Protection from harmful UV radiation is the motivation behind every tinting installation we do.
As much as automobiles have evolved over time, you’d be surprised to learn that automotive window glass hasn’t really changed in nearly 100 years. Until now.
We install a variety of window tint films from high-tech nano ceramic tint that rejects heat better all the way down to a more cost effective carbon films. All our films reject over 99% of harmful UV light.

Dyed Film
Absorbs solar energy rather than rejecting it. Provides privacy and a cleaner look. Prone to fading and turning purple in hot climates (Like AZ) after 2 to 3 years.

Carbon Film

Add-ons such as old window tint removal, glass complexity, sunroof tinting and windshield tint can contribute to overall cost.
Remove old window tint $50 - $200 (depends on number of windows needing tint removal)
Sunroof tint $50 - $350+ (depends on sunroof size, example: certain vehicle's entire roof is glass)
Windshield tint: $150 - $350 (depends on size: Mini Cooper vs. Cyber Truck)
Factors That Affect Window Tint Cost Beyond Film Type
Old Tint Removal
Stripping existing film adds $50 to $200 to the job depending on how old the film is and what shape the adhesive is in. Old adhesive baked onto rear defroster lines takes the most time by far.
Glass Complexity
Curved rear glass, wraparound quarter windows, and deep door frames all add time to an install. Most modern vehicles get plotter-cut patterns which cuts down on fitting problems and speeds up the job.
VLT Percentage
VLT (Visible Light Transmission) controls how dark the tint looks and whether it passes inspection in your state. Going too dark does not cost more to install, but getting caught with illegal tint and having it removed absolutely will.
